#1: Doug Sahm

Red Dirty Country Singer Doug Sahm in a cowboy hat and long hair.

Should I add a classic country singer in here as well? With a voice similar to Ray Charles, Doug Sahm is one of the pioneers of Red Dirt Country Music. His song “Texas Me” was played at Texas Honky Tonks all over the south.  He was born in San Antonio and learned to play the steel guitar at age six. Many considered him a child prodigy. He was awarded the presidents award by the Americana Music Association and was an original member of The Texas Tornados.
